INGREDIENTS
CAPRYLYL/CAPRYL GLUCOSIDE
Caprylyl / Capryl Glucoside is a mild cleanser used in cosmetic formularies including in products for individuals with sensitive skin. It is plant-derived, biodegradable, and gentle on skin.
WHAT DOES IT DO?
Caprylyl/ Capryl Glucoside is used in our liquid hand soap and body wash products as a gentle cleanser. In the formula it helps properly disperse the ingredients, and ensure easy rinsing and removal of residues from the skin.
HOW IS IT MADE?
Our Stewardship Model guides us to select ingredients which have been processed in a manner that supports our philosophy of human and environmental health.
Caprylyl / Capryl Glucoside is produced by the reaction of glucose from corn with the fatty alcohol capric alcohol, which is obtained from coconut and/or palm oil.
WHAT ARE THE ALTERNATIVES?
Other cleansing agents include soaps and surfactants, both naturally derived and synthetic, that could be used in place of or in addition to Caprylyl / Capryl Glucoside . We do not use animal-based soaps or synthetic surfactants as cleansing agents, but we do use vegetable-based soaps and other naturally derived surfactants in some of our products.
Tom’s of Maine recognizes that no two people are alike, and even with naturally derived ingredients, some individuals may develop an allergic reaction that is unique to them. As with any product, be sure to discontinue use if you experience discomfort or other indications that the product may not be appropriate for your individual body chemistry.
